Tati of the Stars

This is Gabriella, but her parents and friends call her Gabby. Ever since she could remember, Gabby had always dreamed of catching the stars and bringing them to her parents.

One night Gabby’s parents took her to a light show. “So many pretty lights!” she thought. One piece stood out to her the most. “Tati of the stars”, a giant, lit up elephant sculpture that was dedicated to an elephant named Tatiana. “An elephant from the stars?” She questioned. This must be how people catch stars!

The next afternoon at daycare, Gabby told her friend’s about Tati. “There are no elephants in the stars”, they said. “You can’t catch stars, they’re too far away and you’re too small!”. They laughed at Gabby for ever thinking that it was possible.

Feeling angry, she took her wooden, toy elephant and her coat and went to the outdoor play area near the woods. Tearing up, she thought to herself “what if I can’t catch the stars?” Suddenly, she heard the trees moving, followed by the trumpeting sound of an elephant.

She walked just passed the bushes, only to discover a gigantic elephant. “Tati!” she shouted with joy while rubbing the tears from her eyes. “Gabby, i’ve come to help you catch the stars”.

With her big trunk, Tati lifted up Gabby onto her back. The two waited until nightfall, than Tati said “Take this jar and catch your stars”. Gabby reached up and caught some of the prettiest stars she could find. “Thank you Tati”, Gabby said. “Your welcome Gabby. Don’t ever let anyone tell you “You can’t”, Tati said. “And don’t ever stop reaching for the stars”.
